Ship towed to Ampelakia after rudder loss
In the evening of Feb 11, 2024, the Port Authorities of Chios, Karystos, Kymi, Skyros, Psara and Andros were informed that the 'Al Kadrai' was in a difficult position due to loss of rudder 13 nautical miles southeast of Skyros with 21 crew members on board. The JRCC mobilized two2) passing vessels as well as the tug "Christos XXXIV" to the scene. The livestock carrier was intially taken in tow by the tug, later joined by the 'Christos XLI', and was taken to Ampelakia in Salamina on Feb 14 at 3.30 p.m. UTC. The Central Port Authority of Piraeus prohibited the sailing of the ship until the repair of the rudder damage.
