Tanker escaped pirate attack
On June 28, 2014, the "Torm Sofia" managed to scare a skiff with a group of pirates in the Gulf of Aden. Neither the Filipino captain and his Crew nor the armed guards were hurt. The crew acted in accordance with the rules of best management practice (BMP 4). The tanker was enroute from Sikka in India to New York when pirates approached the ship in a skiff.
