Finlaggan

The 'Finlaggan', serving on the route Kennacraig-Islay, suffered a technical issue, which required a further repair. As a consequence, the scheduled 01:00 p.m. departure from Kennacraig was delayed to 02:15 p.m. This had a knock on effect throughout the day.

Due to a technical issue with the fuel pump of the 'Finlaggan’, serving on the route Kennacraig-Port Askaig on Dec 31, the scheduled sailing at 1 p.m. from Kennacraig was delayed until 2:30 p.m. This had a knock on affect to the 3:30 p.m. sailing from Port Askaig. After repairs were carried out. the vessel started to load traffic in order to depart Kennacraig as soon as possible.

The 'Finlaggan', serving on the route Kennacraig-Islay, suffered a technical issue withthe port side main engine on the morning of Dec 11. As a consequence, the following sailings have been cancelled: Departure Kennacraoig - 1:00 p.m. Departure Port Askaig - 3:30 p.m. An update was to be provided by the operator CalMac at approximately 3:00 p.m. for the 6:00 p.m. departure from the port of Kennacraig.

As a consequence, limitations were in place regarding the weather and sea states, in which the vessel was still able to safely operate. The operator CalMac was investigations the options for a repair and developed repair plans. During periods of adverse weather, the service remained at a heightened risk of disruption or cancellation at short notice.

As a consequence, the departures from Kennacraig at 07:00 a.m., 01:00 p.m., 06.00 p.m. and from Port Ellen at 09.45 a.m. and from Port Askaig at 03:30 p.m. were liable to disruption or cancellation as well as the departure from Kennacraig on Sep 6 at 06:00 p.m. and from Port Askaig at 08:15 p.m. After the repairs were completed and the ship tested successfully, the 'Finlaggan' resumed its service on Sep 7 with the 07:00 a.m. sailing from Kennacraig.

The 'Finlaggan', serving on the route Kennacraig-Islay, suffered an issue with the lift on Sep 1. As a consquence,. the scheduled 09:45 a.m. departure from Port Ellen was delayed. A temporary repair to the lift was carried, out and the crew continued to investigate the issue on the passage to Kennacraig. The ferry departed Port Ellen at 11:00 a.m. with an ETA at Kennacraig as of 1:30 p.m.

After the issue was successfully resolved, the ferry finally departed from the port at 6:50 p.m., 50 minutes late, with an ETA in Kennacraig as of 8:45 p.m.

Passengers booked on the scheduled 1:00 p.m. departure from the port of Kennacraig were, however, requested to check in as normal.

The 'Finlaggan', serving on the route Kennacraig-Islay, suffered an issue with the bow door on the night of Jan 30, 2025. The failure resulted in the vessel operating delayed. The ferry sailed from Kennacraig at 7:20 p.m., one hour and 20 minutes late, and arrived in Port Askaig at 9:15 p.m. The scheduled sailing on Jan 31 at 07:00 a.m. from Kennacraig now departed at 08:00 a.m. and diverted to Port Askaig. The scheduled crossing from Port Ellen at 09:45 a.m. now departed from Port Askaig instead.
