LPG leaked through faulty valve
Liquefied gas leaked from the "No.5 SJ Gas" on Jan 12, 2019, at 10.30 a.m. at Dongying anchorage, Shandong Province, in the Bohai Sea. The ship, loaded with 1.850 tons of LPG, had arrived at Dongying coming from Korea. The faulty valve was detected during berthing at port. The master notified the authorities and asked for an anchorage to fix the valve where a gas leak occurred. The gas concentration on and around the tanker was below an explosion level. A safety zone of three miles was established around the ship. The tanker was manned with a crew of 15 - five from Myanmar, five from South Korea and five Indonesians, who remained on board. The tug "Ling Hang Tuo 8" (MMSI: 412331530) went on standby. The gas leak has been stopped on Jan 14. The tanker sailed from Pyeongtaek on Jan 17.
