Federal-Swift

En route from Liverpool to Rauma the crew of the 'Federal Swift' discovered a stowaway on board. The ship arrived at the port of Rauma on Feb 3, 2022, at 11.15 p.m. Once in port, the ship was met by the Finnish authorities who arrested the stowaway who had hidden in the ship's engine room and was found short after the departure on Jan 27. The ship's master had reported the observation to the Danish authorities, but since the ship only stockpiled fuel and supplies on Danish waters, without calling at a port, no action was taken in Denmark. The person had previously been denied entry into the Schengen area. He was suspected of a national border crime. The law enforcement unit at the Western Finland Maritime Surveillance Section has initiated an investigation into the case.
