Ship detained for investigation into death of crew member
The 'Inge Kosan' has been detained by the Vanuatu police force and ports authorities at Port Vila amid investigations over the death of one of its crew memberson Apri, 14, 2021. The deceased was a Filipino national. His body was discovered at Pango beach, about ten minutes drive from Port Vila's main wharf, on Apr 11. The vessel arrived in Vila last week and its next port of entry was the Solomon Islands. While leaving Port Vila on Apr 11, the vessel was proceeding out of Vila harbour when it was revealed that one of its crew member was not on board. The vessel was then instructed by Vanuatu Port Authorities to return. An SAR operation rescue was started, and the authorities were informed that a body was found on Pango beach. The departure of the vessel was cancelled waiting for the outcome of the investigations.
