Two officers died on board
The "Gas Aegean" had to interrupt her voyage from Lavera to Cudallore, East India, and call at Trincomalee after two of her crew members died on board around July 8, 2019. Both were officers, one 34-year old Ukrainian mechanic from Izmail, another one 39-year old Russian. The cause of their simultaneous deaths was unknown. The ship moored at Trincomalee anchorage in the morning of July 11. The bodies of the deceased seamen were to undergo an autopsy. The police started an investigation. According to unconfirmed reports, the dead sailors had drunk alcohol from the hospital.
