Stern damage to be fixed in Veracruz drydock
On jan 23, 2026, the 'Algoma Mariner', en route from Montreal, has been drydocked at the Veracruz Pemex Dock in Veracruz City for its 5-year-inspection. At the same time, a severe damage at the starboard side stern was to be fixed, which the vessel had suffered on July 13, 2025, following the vessel’s departure from MTL34, Port of Montreal. During a turning maneuver, the ship reportedly lost reverse power, resulting in a loss of control. Assisted by the river current, the vessel made contact with MTL44. An emergency response was initiated, and a crew of linesmen was dispatched to secure the vessel back alongside. Repairs were made and she was back underway on July 27.
