Crew member found dead on board
A 51 year old crew member of the 'Egalabus' from the O Forte neighborhood in Cangas has died in the Indian Ocean. The man, identified by his initials Modesto S. P., was found dead in his cabin aboard the tuna vessel, owned by the Basque company Atunsa. The crew noticed the sailor's absence during maneuvers and found him deceased when they went to his cabin. The exact cause of death was currently unknown. The Cangas Youth Football Academy has posted a brief statement in his memory. The ship had departed from Port Victoria, the archipelago's capital, on Jan 6, 2026. .
Quarantine in Abidjan
The 'Egalabur'Coast, for a possible case of coronavirus in the crew. One of its members was transferred to the hospital with a feverish illness and other symptoms, and after a brief stay in the health center, was again sent to the ship, where he has been isolated since then. The rest of the crew has also een confined to the ship, which has been denied permission to leave port and fish until the quarantine period has been completed.
