Grounding in Suez Canal
The "Eastern Bund" suffered a blackout and ran aground on Oct 4, 2018, around noon, while transiting the Suez Canal in southern direction bound to Sokhna. During the bottom touch the hull was breached, but due to the double bottom there was no water ingress. The bulkcarrier was towed to Suez by the tugs "Mosaheb 2" (IMO: 9544906) and "Mosaed 3" (MMSI: 622123999). It was moored at the Suez South Anchorage in the early morning of Oct 5.
