Pirates Boarded Tanker at Anchorage
On 09-SEP-2011 at 23:05, six pirates armed with long knives approached the Fairchem Birdie anchored in position 01 42 00 N, 101 28 00 E, at the Dumai Inner Anchorage, 0.9nm NE of Dumai Port, Indonesia on bearing 037. Three of the pirates boarded the Tanker on the stern and threatened the duty AB on deck. The DO on the bridge spotted the pirates and raised the alarm. The pirates escaped with stolen ships stores. The master made several attempts to contact the Port and Local Authorities but received no response. No crew were injured during the incident.
