Durward-Knowles

The 'Dunward Knowles' allided with a jetty in Matthew Town, Inagua, on the morning of aug 30, 2025, after experiencing mechanical failure. The patrol boat lost control of its controllable pitch propeller system at 7:54 a.m. while approaching the port. Despite the bridge team ordering the engines astern, they unexpectedly surged forward, causing the vessel to strike a nearby jetty. No injuries were reported, and other RBDF craft moored nearby were not affected. There was damage to the pier as well as to the port side bow of the 'Dunward Knowles'. The boat underwent technical work at Fort Pierce earlier in summer to resolve the same issue, but the malfunction recurred. A full technical review and assessment has been launched to determine corrective measures.
