Engine failure in English Channel
The "MSC Alessia" suffered an engine failure while transiting the southwest lane in the Caldovrep area of the English Channel, in position 50 44.48 N, 000 57.95 E on May 13, 2018, at 12.15 a.m. The ship was underway from Felixstowe, where it had sailed on May 12 at 7 p.m., to Le Havre and continued sailing on one cylinder. The ship berthed at the Terminal PorteOceane on May 13 at 10 a.m. Next port of call will be Antwerp. By May 14 at 10 a.m. the vessel was still in Le Havre.
Container ship taken in tow after suffering rudder damage
After its departure from Bremerhaven on Apr 27, 2012, the "MSC Alessia" suffered rudder damage on the Northsea. The ship was taken in tow by the tugs "Bugsier 5" and "Bugsier 10" in the German Bight and was pulled to Hamburg, where the ship was to be drydocked in Dock 11 at Blohm & Voss Yard.
