Drotten

Legionella bacteria have been discovered on the 'Drotten'. It was during a routine check on the ferry, operating between Visby and Oskarshamn, on Jan 27, 2026, that the discovery was made. The elevated levels were believed to come from a shower head or a drain in one cabin and did not apply to the drinking water on board. Until the bacteria have disappeared, which was expected to take at least a week, none of the 70 cabins would be bookable. Ferry traffic was to be continued as usual in the meantime. On Jan 28, the clean-up work continued according to plan, and was being followed up continuously with sampling. The day after the legionella bacteria were found on the ferry before the 04:50 p.m. departure from Visby to Oskarshamn on Jan 27, no cases of illness have yet been confirmed.

Both men suspected of the bomb threat against the 'Drotten were being questioned by the police. The men admitted that they left behind the threat to blow up the ferry, but at the same time said that there was no real threat behind it. The police have handed over the investigation to the prosecutor, who will now decide whether to proceed with the case.

The alarm came in at 7:40 p.m. Patrols boarded the ferry and questioned the staff and captain. Later in the evening, the police announced that they consider the threat to be frivolous, but that they are investigating the incident as a grossly unlawful threat. A member of staff found a handwritten note on the ferry that it was understood that it would be blown up in some way. The police suspected that someone who got off the ferry left the note. A technical fault in the propulsion of the 'Drotten', serving between Visby and Oskarshamn, led to major delays in ferry traffic on the afternoon of Aug 27. The ferry that was supposed to leave Visby port at 4:40 p.m. remained at the quay until after midnight. The ferry has now been taken out of service and several delays were expected on Aug 28 as a result.When it became clear that the fault could not be fixed quickly enough, a replacement ferry had to be deployed in the night. The scheduled sailings on the morning of Aug 28 were also affected by the trouble. The 'Drotten' resumed the service from Visby ti Oskarshamn after completion of repairs on Aug 28.

On June 19, 2019, the "Gotland" suffered an engine failure which delayed the scheduled departure from Nynäshamn to Visby at 11.15 a.m. The ship finally sailed at noon from Oskarshammn and arrived at Visby at 3 p.m.

The "Gotland", enroute from Oskarshamn to Visby with an ETA as of March 24, 2018, at 11 p.m. was delayed at its destination due to a cooling water fault. When the fault was repaired, the ferry could enter the dock as usual,While the ferry was drifting off the port, the captain informed the passengers at regular intervals that they should sit down and remain calm.

The scheduled sailing of the "Gotland" from Nynäshamn on Nov 28, 2016, at 8:05 p.m. was canceled because of severe weather. Also the departure from Visby on Nov 29 at 07.30 a.m. was cancelled. Strong winds also affected the ferry from Oskarshamn that would have sailed on Nov 28 at 8:10 p.m. The tour was postponed to Nov 29 morning with an arrival from Oskarshamn to Visby at 10:55 a.m.
