Chief engineer intoxicated, ship detained
On its way from El Ferrol to Gdynia the "BBC Atlantic" was subject of a port state control during its transit of the Kiel Canal on Feb 25, 2013. The police found the chief engineer intoxicated with 1,45 per mille alcohol. As no replacement was available, the ship was detained until he was sober again. The "BBC Atlantic" was allowed to resume the voyage 14 hours later and docked in Gdynia in the evening of Feb 27.
