Bulk carrier under tow to Setubal
On Sep 4, the 'Donald M. James' left the port of Brest again, being towed ty the tug 'Abeille Horizon'. The convoy, which stopped in Brest at the end of August, is destined to the Lisnave shipyard in Setubal for permanent repairs with an ETA as of Sep 10. The bulk carrier had been immobilized in Bremerhaven since March 11 due to a rudder damage. Damaged bulk carrier waiting for weather improvement in Brest
The 'Donald M. James' has berthed in Brest on Aug 25. The ship, which was suffering from a problem with its rudder blade, has been waiting in the German port since March 11. It took more than five months to set sail for a suitable port, Setubal, where it is expected to be repaired by the Lisnave shipyard. Taken over on Aug 19 by the 'Abeille Horizon', the vessel was moored at repair dock number four of the commercial port in Brest where it was received by the AMB agency. It was expected to set sail, once again under tow of the 'Abeille Horizon', when the weather is favourable. Self discharger left Bremerhaven without repair
The 'Donald M. James', which had been drydocked at the Lloyd Yard in Bremerhaven since March 11, following its rudder loss, has left the port after damage inspections on Aug 19. No repair contract was completed, and now the ship was being towed by the offshore tug 'Abeille Horizon' (IMO: 9178410) to Setubal with status NUC and an ETA as of Sep 6 for permanent repairs.
Self discharger towed to Bremerhaven following rudder damage
On the afternoon of March 11, the 'Donald James' was towed from Bremen to Bremerhaven by the tugs 'VB Pioneer' (IMO: 9190614) and 'Fairplay 31' (IMO: 9416575) without its rudder. The damage occurred when the ship's stern got stuck on the oppsite embankment of the Weser at Hasenbüren while casting off from the Steel Works Bremen in the Weserport on Feb 17, damaging the steering gear.
