The 'Don' discharged dirty, oily garbage in Mersin on Jan 10, 2023, and discharged dirty ballast water on Jan 11. The local environmental protection office took samples and video records. Subsequently, a investigation file was opened and a pollution fine was imposed by the local municipality environmental pollution prevention department due to a breach of local regulations as per Marpol rules. The imposed fine was in the amount of $536.500,00. The vessel'S departure permission was cancelled by the Harbour Master until the payment of the fine, together with cleaning expenses. The payment and a letter of guarantee was issued by the P&I Club on behalf of the owners, and the vessel was granted a departure permission and sailed from Mersin on Jan 13, headed to Trabzon with an ETA as of Jan 19.
