Engine and rudder failure in San Lorenzo
The 'Thestelia K' suffered an engine and rudder failure during the berthing manoeuvres in the port of San Lorenzo at the Terminal 6 south berth on Feb 13, 2022, at 02.30 a.m. UTC. The vessel initially could not drop anchors due to winch problems. The vessel knocked down the Quebracho terminal's north mooring tower. Whenit was finally able to drop anchors, it was close to alliding with the Hong Kong flagged bulk carrier 'Unison Medal', which was moored at the Quebracho terminal. With the assistance of tugs, the 'Thestelia K' was shifted to the San Lorenzo centre roads for hull and engine inspections.
