Four Greek-managed oil tankers were allegedly attacked by drones near Russia’s Black Sea terminal, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium Yuzhnaya Ozereyevka terminal near Novorossyisk, on Jan 13, 2026. The involved ships were the 'Delta Harmony' (IMO: 9408463), which was expected to load oil from Tengizchevroil, and on which a small fire broke out, which was quickly extinguished, the 'Matilda' (IMO: 9407457), which was hit by two drones and suffered slight damages to the deck structure, while sailing in ballast condition about 30 nautical miles off the CPC terminal, and which was expected to load from Karachaganak, the 'Freud' (IMO: 9804461) and the 'Delta Supreme', both of which transited thr Bosphorus on Jan 18, the 'Freud' showing damageat the starboardside foreship. The attacks followed Russia's most intense aerial bombardment of the Ukraine this year, which killed at least four people and targeted Kyiv and Kharkiv overnight. At the Russian terminal in Novorossiysk, the 'Freud' was hit. The tanker was waiting to load crude oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal along with two other vessels. The vessel suffered limited damage. The 'Freud' has since left Russian waters towards the Eastern Mediterranean, scheduled to arrive in Trieste on Jan 20. The vessel was carrying CPC Blend, a blend of mostly Kazakh crude oil essential for fueling the Transalpine pipeline that departs from the Siot terminal. The management of the 'Matilda', the Thenamaris, confirmed that the vessel was struck by drone(s) while at the roads of Novorossiysk (CPC Terminal). The authorities were immediately informed of the incident. All crew members were safe, and there were no reported injuries. As per initial assessment, the ship appeared to have suffered minor damage on deck only. There was no reported pollution, and the vessel remained fully seaworthy. The Greek company remained in contact with the ship’s Master and all relevant authorities. The CPC offshore terminal at Russia’s port of Novorossiysk handles more than 1% of the global oil supply and nearly 80% of Kazakhstan’s exports. CPC moves crude from western Kazakhstan to a terminal near Novorossiysk, where tankers carry it to global markets. In early December a strike on one of the three single-point moorings operated by the terminal put it out of service.

Sweden’s Concordia Maritime continues to put cash in the bank completing a second sale and leaseback agreement this month, this time for suezmax tanker Stena Supreme. Concordia says it sold the suezmax to one of Japan’s largest ship owning companies, chartering the vessel back on a 12-year bareboat charter with annual purchase options from the third year onwards.
