The MV Hebrides has had a challenging yet eventful few months, serving the vital ferry route between Uig, Lochmaddy, and Tarbert. This included a 7:20 p.m. departure from Uig and an additional morning sailing on May 19, showcasing the swift response of the team to resolve the service interruptions.

However, the challenges did not end there. Just a few days later, on May 20, the port side main engine encountered yet another technical problem, leading to the cancellation of all scheduled departures from major ports including Lochmaddy, Stornoway, and Ullapool for the day. This necessitated the rerouting of displaced vehicles, with the Lord of the Isles stepping in to accommodate the disrupted traffic. Moreover, leading up to these operational challenges, the Hebrides was delayed in its return to service after undergoing an annual overhaul that began on February 26. During its maintenance at Edinburgh, a gearbox issue was identified during the post-overhaul commissioning phase. This unexpected complication postponed the vessel's initial resumption of service on April 18, forcing the Clansman to take over ferry operations and impacting the overall ferry schedule across multiple routes.

Despite these tribulations, the Hebrides made its return to service on May 13 after repairs were finally completed, and it is poised to regain its critical role in facilitating island connections.
