Solis - Collision Controversy Unveiled

The maritime industry is currently abuzz with news regarding the tanker 'Solis', which has found itself at the center of an unfortunate incident involving the trawler 'St. Joseph'. This vessel, having recently completed inspections by Indian authorities, is now moored at Vizhinjam after a collision that occurred on March 7, 2023, approximately 57 nautical miles off the coast of Tamil Nadu. Following the collision, in which the fishing boat sunk resulting in two missing fishermen and several injuries among the crew, the Indian Coast Guard swiftly rescued nine individuals, while two fishermen were reported missing. Investigators noted significant damage to the vessel, particularly at the bow, where paint had completely peeled off, indicating the impact zone from the collision. Moreover, the Chief Surveyor and his team examined the vessel's CCTV footage and conducted interviews with the twenty crew members on board, gathering critical information pertaining to the circumstances surrounding the incident.
